There is no cure for Friedreich’s Ataxia. Heck, there’s not yet a treatment for the debilitating, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder. At Etix and Rockhouse Partners, this is a reality we are less than comfortable with.
In 2012, a 13-year-old girl named Alison Price was diagnosed with FA, becoming one of the 50,000 people in the United States afflicted with the disorder. As the daughter of Matt Price, VP of Operations at Etix, Alison is family. So as a company and a family, we continue to dedicate resources in support of Alison and Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), the non-profit dedicated to curing Friedreich’s ataxia through research.
“I am thankful for all of those who help support my daughter and help raise money for Team FARA.” – Matt Price, VP of Client Services
Our most recent campaign for FA research was when we dubbed November 2014 “FARA Month” and dedicated the month to fundraising. Our goal for November was to raise $10,000 and tons of awareness. Collectively, Etix and Rockhouse Partners held a bake sale, a corn hole tournament, a backyard house show, and more. Many employees—including our CEO—ran a half marathon as part of Team FARA, the group dedicated to combating Friedreich’s ataxia through acts of physical endurance.
Marathon participants & the RockHOUSE SHOW for FARA
A highlight of Etix and Rockhouse Partners’ “FARA Month” was the Etix Raffle for FARA. As a web-based ticketing service provider, it was only appropriate for us to do what we do best by using our platform to sell raffle tickets, all proceeds going to FARA. The clear hook was the first place prize: 2 concert tickets to any UMG artist touring anywhere in the US + a meet & greet with the artist + flights to and from the concert location + one night in a hotel room. In the end, Etix and Rockhouse Partners sold 598 raffle tickets, raising 25% of the overall goal for the month.
