How to Rock Google My Business

When you’re trying to create a new Google Plus page for your business, you might be having a bit of a dilemma: How do you know which page is best suited for you and your business when there are so many different types to choose from?

First Time Using Google Plus?

When you establish a Google Plus page, you need to decide which type of page your business needs. Here are the differences:

  • Storefront: You serve customers at your physical business location, and you want them to be able to use Google Maps to find you. These are your hotels, restaurants and music venues.
  • Service Area: Business is done at their location within your service area, and you want them to be able to use Google Maps to see that area. This would be your local pizza delivery.
  • Brand: You don’t have a physical location or address that appears on Google Maps.  You’re a music festival, organization, brand, artist or band.

If you’re set up with with a physical location, a huge part of the process is making sure the information on your profile is up to date and accurate so that you can verify your business.

Brands Take Caution: If you’re a music festival and use the same property every year, find out if that physical location hosts other events during the year. You don’t want to be in an address claim battle with the Summer Agriculture Fair and the Winter Dog Show Spectacular, trust us.

Google Places, Pages and My Business… Is There A Difference?

Google likes to change things up frequently, and sometimes majorly. Last June, “Google Places” was renamed to be “Google My Business.”

Search results may still call the front-end of the Goggle My Business a Google Plus Page, or even a Local Page. However, it’s important to note that Google My Business is just a new title for the business owner’s Plus page dashboard.

Google My Business: Why It Works

Don’t worry if you still don’t quite understand all of this. Whichever type of page you create for your business, you’re still working with Google My Business on the back-end. The dashboard makes it easier for business owners to create and adjust information that appears across Google’s results. Additionally, the dashboard is your one-stop-shop for Reviews, Insights, Adwords and Analytics.

Already A Professional With Your Google My Business Page?

Virtual Tour feature is just another fantastic part of your business’ Plus page. You’ve probably noticed there’s an icon towards the top of your dashboard that prompts you to “Add Virtual Tour.” It’s pretty straight forward; you can create a virtual tour that gives viewers an inside look of your business!

All you have to do to create a virtual tour is contact a Google certified Trusted Photographer or Agency, schedule a time, and let the photographer take care of the rest! Prices can range, it usually depends on on how many “spins” are required to capture your business, or by your business’ square footage.

As a local business, a Virtual Tour can make the difference between people choosing your business over another. The tour conveys the atmosphere of your business and anyone can experience that from wherever they are. The possibilities are endless for ampitheatres, retailers, and concert venues using Virtual Tours.
