Session Recap: Outpacing Fraud Attacks and Chargebacks

“When the ‘good guys’ are able to build networks and trust within their industry and community, they can better slow down, prevent or stop fraudulent transactions from occurring at their venue.” – Mandi Grimm, Fraud Expert at Etix

With digital ticketing increasingly becoming popular, more sophisticated ticket scams and chargebacks have also risen.  Venues and ticketing companies, alike, are feeling the pressure to find the best prevention tactics as fraudsters get bolder in their ticketing schemes.

This year’s Intix conference covered this hot button issue extensively. Our resident fraud expert Mandi Grimm and Holly Sandberg, Fraud and Credit Manager at Paciolan, shared their experiences with ticketing fraud, what any venue professional can do to pinpoint fraudsters, and the best ways to respond.

Mandi and Holly discuss the five types of red flags to look for at a live event: high-dollar inventory, limited time-to-event date, sales anomalies, delivery methods, and zipcodes.  The duo also go over the importance of customer service in these types of situations, and utilizing law enforcement to assist in fraud management.

With fraudsters finding new ways to scam real ticket buyers, it’s important to stay proactive and monitor your ticket sales closely.  To learn more about the risk factors and what tactics you can do to manage fraud, read the full article.
